Getting out

One great thing about having a baby is it forces you to leave the house, cause if you didn't you would go cra cra crazy. For reals. So instead of going to Target for the billionth time (oh how I do heart you Target!) we have been going the little more cultural route. Yesterday we went to Mass MoCA and it was great. Mass MoCA is perfect for children. Big, bright and its ok to be a little loud, and the kids space is awesome! Cant wait to do some arts and crafts with the Harps up in there when shes a little bigger.

My Parents have been in town for few days and its been so nice having them around. We have had family dinner every night with my sister and brother-in-law and its left me feeling all warm and fuzzy.  My sister is going to have a baby NEXT month. OMG!! and I couldn't be more excited!!!! While my parents are here they are also helping me rearrange my house a little bit to make it a little more, er..... baby shui. The little Harp is finally going to be sleeping in her own room! Again a bitter sweet moment in mommy hood but honestly tip toeing around my room for the past year has been no fun. I thinks its time for mommy and baby have a little space to call their own.

Sleep walking

Sweet little pea.

I'm tired. I have been tired for about, oh I would say a year and I don't see any sleep in the near future. I know that being a tired mother sounds like a cliche but wow is it the truth. How do women have more then one child? And a husband and a house and a dog and a job and a and a.....you get it. Jeez!!!!! It is tiring having an infant!!!! When I was around 7 or 8 months pregnant I started complaining about sleep. The peeing, the big belly, the anticipation of wanting to meet this sweet baby I had been carrying around for 9 months!!! But really, REALLY I had no idea what was coming. I love to sleep, I can sleep for 14 hours straight and feel no shame. But now I'm lucky if I sleep three hours straight with out a baby attached to me in bed, 4 hours is like a holiday, in the morning if it's 7am I'm like "Wow I can't believe we slept in!!!!!". Ya it's like that people. And all you Mommy's are like, "Ya we know ha ha jokes on you first time mom, hahahahaha!!!!" Its almost like you want some one else to feel the pain, cause it's so painful you can't even describe it. Rant rant. I love LOVE my child but the constant waking up, little to NO naps is a little bit crazy! Harper I know it's beacuse you love me so and I love you, but sweet sweet child if you could just one night not wake up til the rooster calls (or mommy says so! Ha!) mommy (I mean my sanity) would really REALLY appreciate it!!!! Ok, ranting is done for the evening.

Firsts

Yesterday we brought Harper sledding for the first time. It only took 3 adults, one three year old, one seven year old, a bike pump and 30 minutes to get the tube blown up. Ha! Not sure exactly what the little Harp thought of it all. She knew she was with her people and they seemed to be having a good time, so I think she decided to just go with the flow. It's so amazing (and often hilarious!) watching this little creature experience things for the first time. I think Aurora enjoyed it the most. Being the big cousin and having the baby on her lap going down the hill. They are definitely going to be besties!

And another big first for us yesterday was Harper finally cut a tooth!!! I was actually starting to become convinced my child didn't have teeth and she was going to gum her meals for the rest of her life. I was actually ok with it, cheap dental bills! ha! It is such a bittersweet moment for me because I am going to miss that sweet little gummy smile! It also means my baby is growing up and although its so fun to watch her grow its also a little sad watching the baby in her slip away. Just going to have to cherish every single itsy bitsy moment!

look at that sweet little gummy grin!!

Celebrating Magic

My beautiful grandmother when she was younger

My grandmother is probably with out a doubt one of the most amazing, beautiful, gentle, giving souls on the planet. I know every one says that about their grandmothers but I swear to you my "Manny" is something magical. I have been blessed to have her in my life and double blessed for her to be in my daughters. Four generations of women, can you believe that! It sure is something special! Last night we celebrebrated her 78th birthday!! She truly is an inspiration. I hope to someday in my life (even though I don't think it's possible because seriously I think there was some magic doing at birth) to be as wonderful as she has been as a mother, grandmother, great grandmother, wife, sister and friend! Oh and did I mention she's GEORGEOUS!!! Ya, like as in drop dead! Cheers to you lady!!! Happy Birthday and many many more!!!!!!

Today is the day I start this blog....

Harper Lynne loving her some daddy time.

Today is the day. I have been wanting to start a blog for a very long time and here it is.There are many reasons why I have felt like I needed to start a blog but to sum it up here is just a short (and a little bit cheesy) list-

  • A place where Harper can go and see her life documented day by day in pictures and words.
  • A place where family and friends near and far can get a glimpse of Harper and I without having to pick up a phone, jump on a plane or get in a car.
  • A place where I can share my thoughts on being a mother, a girlfriend (and hopefully wife sometime soon. haha!), a daughter, an artist and a person trying to get by in this crazy, beautiful and wonderful world.
  • A place to make friends.
  • A place to showcase my artwork, ideas and inspiration.
and I think you might be starting to get the idea..

I have to admit I am not a writer. I am a thinker for sure but struggle with getting those thoughts down (and grammatically correct and spelled right) on paper. So please people bare with me.

Well family and friends here it is and I hope you enjoy.

Love-

J
